On the Road Again

Greetings to all of you who follow us through this blog. Jim and I are off again!

First we fly directly Toronto to Dublin and then, by car, we will do a circle tour of Ireland. Jim has been to Belfast and Dublin and I have only been in a small area around Dublin. Yes, there are parts of the world that we have not visited. We will be in Ireland for about 3 weeks.

Then, off to Wales, Llangollen, to be precise. Llangollen is a tiny village that hosts a wonderful Eisteddfod, an international choral festival. We happened upon this event about 10 years ago and it was so wonderful, we promised ourselves that we would go again. We booked our accommodation a year ago to ensure that we were within walking distance of the venue. This event draws an enormous international crowd.

After a week in Wales, we will travel (probably fly) to Manchester, England and then take a short drive to Chester where we will stay for a couple of days. This is one of Jim's favourite cities and I have never been there. Much to discover.

Back to Manchester for a flight to Bergen, Norway, a short stop en route to Kirkenes, a tiny community in the far north of Norway on the Atlantic coast. A few days there will allow us to explore the nearby international borders (Russia and Finland) and perhaps spend a few days in northern Finland before boarding the Hurtigruten freighter cruise which follows the Norwegian coastline from north to south.

Several years ago, we visited Norway in early December. It was VERY cold and very dark, only about four hours of daylight each day. We took the Hurtigruten from Bergen north to Kirkenes and enjoyed it thoroughly, including several viewings of the Northern Lights. This time we will head south, enjoying about 20 hours of daylight each day, and although we will not see the Northern Lights, we will get a better view of the Norwegian coastline and the various communities where we will stop to offload cargo. The meals will be similar and delicious, including an array of seafood/fish at every seating. We are looking forward to that.

Well, that is enough for now. I will post our url on facebook (RobinsonAdventures2025.blogspot.com) as well as sending it to all who are on our list.

Look for the next episode in about a week.
